Gardens
We hope that you will find something of interest whenever you visit. There are now a succession of diverse gardens, which came about partly by accident when we realised that the area would have to be divided into smaller areas to combat the ferocious and constant winds from all directions. Each garden has a different theme and planting conditions, with dry and wet soil in sun and shade- mostly on stony clay, left after opencast mining, we have been able to grow a huge range of hardy plants. We believe that it is better to find the best plant suited to the soil & site than to try and change the environment. The gardens are on a slope and have a variety of different surfaces and therefore inaccessible to some wheelchair users, please ring for more details 07778447920 before embarking on a visit. Parts of the gardens are subject to flooding from September to April, Please check before setting out during winter months for occasional Snowdrop & Autumn Events which will be weather dependent.
